Schedule: Fridays‚ June-Labor Day
Each Friday during the summer months‚ one bluegrass or old-time band and one clogging team are hired to perform for Pickin’ in the Park. Several hundred people come to listen‚ setting up their lawn chairs a distance from the stage. The band performs songs and tunes and provides the music for the clogging team which typically does a succession of five- to ten-minute routines. At other spots away from the stage‚ local musicians meet and play in numerous jam sessions.
Directions: Take Interstate 40 to exit 31. Begin following the signs for Canton Pickin’ in the Park. As you do this‚ you will continue on Hwy. 215 South just past the Pisgah Football Stadium. The Recreational Park will be on your left.
