Schedule: First Friday‚ May-September

Between two and three hundred folks show up each Friday to listen and dance to traditional music at the Hickman Windmill Park and Hudson Railroad Depot Museum in Hudson‚ North Carolina. The renovated depot was built around the turn of the twentieth century‚ and it went out of use as a train station in the 1970s. The sessions are called "Pickings in the Park" because they are situated in the open park area in front of the depot. The musicians at this event typically play acoustic instruments. Fixed seating is limited‚ so many listeners bring their own folding chairs. Food is available‚ as well as a fun ride for the kids.

Directions: Take Highway 321 toward Hudson‚ NC. Take the Hudson exit and take Pine Mountain Road into downtown Hudson. Continue through the first traffic light. Pass through 321-A and then turn right onto Central Street. Continue one block and the Depot will be on the left.
