Schedule: Third weekend in August‚ Friday thru Sunday
On the weekend following the Old Fiddlers’ Convention at Galax‚ the Fries Volunteer Fire Department hosts a competition for the best in old-time fiddle‚ bluegrass fiddle‚ old-time banjo‚ bluegrass banjo‚ dobro‚ as well as other instrumental categories‚ including folksong. There is free on-site parking‚ and free camping is available on a first-come‚ first-served basis.
Directions: From Galax‚ take US 58/221 toward Independence. When you come to Route 94 take a right and follow Route 94 to Fries. The Park is on the far side of town on the right next to the New River.
